Aon Capital Group Inc. is a capital-raising, funding and structured finance consulting firm. Their Insurance Wrapped Project Finance (IWPF) program serves as an all-encompassing project funding and insurance product that protects all contractors and subcontractors working on large projects. Aon Capital Group works together with Capital Market Partner (CMP) and Lloyds of London insurance syndicates. Through insurance products by the Lloyds of London syndicate, the approved project will be wrapped by a series of interlinked insurance policies.

Consequently, the IWPF can cover the following risk categories: engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor performance, off-take risks, political/country risks, and other project-specific risks. By covering those risks, the IWPF program aims to improve the credit rating of a project to a minimum Moody’s or S&P ‘A’ rating. This will allow the project to access funding from pension funds and other professional capital market investors.

The IWPF program targets viable projects in the following sectors:

• Renewable energy, airports/ports, hotels and resorts, oil & gas industries, social housing and other social infrastructure, transport, re-financing of existing projects, M&A and other transactions.

The key criteria for an eligible project: well advanced planning and engineering stage, sufficient project revenues to cover debt repayments, solid track records and financial stability of all parties involved in the project, capability for on-time and on-budget delivery of all contractors, capacities to deliver required material/feedstock volumes by all suppliers.

Global coverage. Case-by-case allocation dependent on risk analysis by Aon.

• Size of coverage: minimum deal value of GBP/USD/euro 100 million, no maximum value.
• Costs: fee agreement (in the region of 5 per cent payable on funding) with CMP; insurance premiums depending on project characteristics and risks—insurance premiums will be added to the loan; one-off fee for preparing the insurance wrap to be paid to the underwriters (< GBP 10,000).
