Instrument Description
Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) is a regional development bank working to improve the financing and support of projects in the Black Sea region. BSTDB offers both full and partial commercial and political risk guarantees to cover loans for economic development. The bank may act as primary or secondary obligor. Projects involving guarantees are appraised, processed and supervised in the same way as those involving direct loan extensions. Precise legal definitions of events guaranteed and pricing are handled on a case-by-case basis.
Eligible Projects and Transactions
The BSTDB offers its services on a case-by-case basis. The maximum exposure must be known and measurable and the credit risk must be acceptable.

Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine
Key Features
- Costs: fee pricing depends on the guarantee’s specific coverage and risks. Fee structure usually includes a front-end fee, exposure and/or periodic guarantee fees and a commitment fee.
