Instrument Description
The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) is a multilateral development finance institution. CABEI supports projects in Central America that strengthen development for poverty reduction and less inequality, improve regional integration as well as a beneficial integration of its member countries in the global economy. CABEI pays special attention to foster environmental sustainability.
Among other instruments, CABEI offers partial and full guarantees as well as letters of credit to address client’s needs for acquiring financial means at better terms.
Eligible Projects and Transactions
CABEI decides project eligibility on a case-by-case. Among others, it finances agriculture and environmental conservation projects as well as a range of infrastructure types: social housing projects, water and sanitation, waste, energy, transport infrastructure, and telecommunication.
