Export–Import Bank of China

The Chinese Export Import Bank (CEXIM) offers a range of financing and trade finance instruments, including demand guarantees.

The CEXIM Financial Guarantee for Overseas Investment is a guarantee (or a standby letter of credit) issued in favour of an overseas debtor/beneficiary that finances an overseas company that is partly or fully owned by a Chinese parent company. If the overseas company fails to service outstanding payments, CEXIM will cover these payments. Given the high credit rating of CEXIM, this guarantee is valuable for Chinese companies for acquiring financing abroad at a lower cost.

The overseas company benefitting from the guaranteed investment needs to be partly or fully owned by a Chinese parent company. CEXIM does not define any focus sectors.

CEXIM does not pre-determine a list of eligible countries. Decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.

• Costs: Fees for a guarantee depend on the attributed risk category, risk level and validity of the guarantee.
