Overseas Investment Insurance
Instrument Description
The Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (ECGC) of India is wholly owned by the Government of India. The Overseas Investment Insurance covers different political risks abroad:
- War, civil war, and revolution;
- Expropriation;
- Restrictions and remittance.
Eligible Projects and Transactions
Overseas investment insurance will cover equity capital or untied loans in the form of cash or the export of Indian capital goods and services set up to expand overseas projects. The coverage includes both the original investment and annual dividends or interest receivable.
Eligible Regions
ECGC offers its services on a case-by-case basis.
Key Features
- Size of coverage: 90 per cent loss coverage.
- Tenor of coverage:
- Coverage available up to 15 years.
- Expandable up to 20 years with reduced insured amount. Reduced loss coverage with proportionate reduction in premium.
