Instrument description
The Political Risk Insurance by XL Catlin is offered for new and existing infrastructure projects, bank loans and leased assets. Potential clients are private and public corporations involved in foreign direct investments, cross-border lending and international business in a variety of industries, including engineering/procurement/construction contractors.
The insurance covers:
- Expropriation, nationalization or confiscation of assets
- Non-repayment or debt default by a state-owned enterprise
- Currency inconvertibility and non-transfer
- Pre-shipment risks
- Multiple trading risks including non-payment, non-delivery, cancellation of licenses, embargos, war and (un)fair calling of advance payment or performance guarantees
