Instrument description
Zurich Insurance Group offers a Political Risk Insurance for a diverse group of potential clients, including investors, banks, contractors and other firms that face political risks in emerging markets. For infrastructure projects, the following risks can be covered by the insurance product: political violence, expropriation, currency inconvertibility, contract frustration, wrongful calling of bonds, and forced abandonment and other coverages.
Insurance policies can be issued for a specific project, on a contract-specific basis or for a multi-country portfolio.
Eligible projects and transactions
This insurance is targeted at long-term infrastructure projects in emerging markets, including telecommunications, energy, transportation and water infrastructure. This insurance is also available for projects and investments in the extractive sector.
