On August 30, a group of amateur cyclists will don their helmets and hit the road for an ambitious, three-day, 500-km road trip from Winnipeg, through the United States and the Lake Winnipeg watershed, to IISD Experimental Lakes Area.
The three-day journey is all to raise money for the Lake Winnipeg Foundation and their Lake Winnipeg Community-Based Monitoring Network, which mobilizes citizens, scientists and conservation professionals to collect water samples across Manitoba in order to measure the concentration of phosphorus—the leading cause of blue-green algal blooms in Lake Winnipeg and across the continent.
This year, Peter Wooders, the director of our Energy team, will be visiting all the way from our Geneva office to participate for the very first time. You can follow their journey on IISD-ELA's Twitter feed.
Please help the Lake Winnipeg Foundation achieve its goal of raising $13,000 and donate here.
