Anahí Wiedenbrüg

Anahí Wiedenbrüg leads IISD’s work on sovereign debt issues within the Economic Law and Policy Program. She is a political economist with over 10 years of global experience in international financial architecture reform, debt management, and debt sustainability.

Prior to joining IISD, Anahí was a senior advisor at Suramericana Visión, a think tank crafting innovative public policies to support Argentina's development. She has extensive experience in multilateral forums, having represented Argentina at the G20 finance track and contributed to the country’s 2020 debt restructuring with private creditors. Anahí has also advised various international organizations, including the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and the German Technical Cooperation Agency.

She is a senior researcher at the Latin American University for Social Sciences, holds a PhD in political economy from the London School of Economics and a post-doc from the University of Oxford. Anahí is fluent in Spanish, English, and German and is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
