Lukas Welker

Project Manager, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning

Lukas Welker is a monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) project manager for IISD’s energy team. In this role, he designs, develops, defines, implements, and updates the MEL system for the program. This function includes support for external reporting to funders and internal reporting for IISD across the institute, as well as supporting IISD’s Theory of Change implementation. Lukas also supports the management of the Energy International tracker team (and its partner network) and is a focal point for IISD Energy’s internship program in Geneva.

Before joining IISD, Lukas worked in different industries in the private sector. His professional experience spans customer service, business development, team management, and cross-functional project management.

Lukas holds a bachelor’s degree in international trade from ESCI-UPF Barcelona and a master’s degree in environmental sciences from the University of Geneva. He also holds the Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute.

With an interest in vertical farming, Lukas undertook additional classes in horticulture greenhouse management from the University of Wageningen and the University of Arizona.

Based in Geneva, Lukas is a fluent speaker of French, English, and Spanish and has a good command of Dutch, Italian, and German.
