Simon Dünnenberger

Policy Analyst

Simon Dünnenberger is a policy analyst in IISD’s Energy Program, focusing on just transition, sustainable jobs in Canada, and carbon pricing in Asia.

Before joining IISD, Simon gained experience through an internship with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, where he worked on economic diversification and just transition initiatives. He also contributed to subnational climate action plans in Switzerland and worked on a temporary basis with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

Simon holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Geneva and a master’s degree in environment, politics, and development from SOAS University of London, where he specialized in global energy and climate policy. His dissertation focused on stranded assets in the fossil fuel industry.
