Enhancing NAMA Capacities in the Congo Basin Countries
IISD, in partnership with ÉcoRessources, undertook a multi-phase project designed to enhance the capacity of government representatives in 10 Congo Basin countries in the selection, design and implementation of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs).
The program increased understanding of NAMA concepts, opportunities and options for financing within Congo Basin countries. Outputs of the project include:
- High-level national overview, sectoral analysis and policy analysis for each of the following countries: Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Gabon, Guinea, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe.
- Capacity-building workshops on NAMAs in the DRC, Rwanda, Cameroon and Congo.
- In-depth analysis of potential NAMA development in the DRC and greenhouse gas emission baseline projections for Rwanda and the DRC.
