Dr. Andrea Bassi is an IISD associate and has worked with the organization in different capacities over the past decade. He has over 15 years of experience in economic modelling and policy analysis within the field of sustainable development.
Andrea is the main architect of the Sustainable Asset Valuation (SAVi) and leads SAVi-related research, model creation, country/project customizations and ensuing advisory services. He is also instrumental in all aspects of SAVi-related outreach.
Andrea’s areas of professional expertise include the use of systems approaches in assessing the outcomes of investments and policy interventions across sectors, industrial development policies and material interests of economic actors. He has applied these assessments at the global, national, landscape, and project levels.
Andrea is also the founder and CEO of KnowlEdge Srl and is an Extraordinary Professor at Stellenbosch University. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in System Dynamics from the University of Bergen in Norway and a M.Sc. in Business and Economics from LIUC in Italy. He publishes regularly in peer-reviewed journals, in addition to authoring several project reports every year. He is also a frequent speaker and lecturer on system dynamics and sustainable development.
