Grievance Mechanism – Kigali
To submit a grievance related to the SUNCASA project in Kigali, Rwanda, please follow the instructions outlined below.
CODE OF CONDUCT GOVERNING WORKERS RELATING TO SAFEGUARDS IN THE SUNCASA PROJECT
Introduction
This code of conduct is intended to address actions and behaviors related to the violation of the freedom of workers engaged in work related to the preservation of the environment in the SUNCASA project. The SUNCASA project emphasizes the principle of equality and inclusiveness, value for all, transparency, equal treatment, non-discrimination and cooperation of any kind. The SUNCASA project is committed to making the workplace safe, everyone is respected, and there are no actions or behaviors that could lead to violence or discrimination in any way.
In this regard, all people who work with the SUNCASA Project, whether they are academic staff or permanent employees, must develop and be characterized by good behavior and follow the contents of the code of conduct, the guidelines of the SUNCASA Project related to leaving everyone, preventing any kind of discrimination based on gender, or a person's social status, religion, etc.
These rules of conduct show that the SUNCASA project staff and those who work with them are well aware of their responsibilities and requirements in protecting everyone who works with the project in protecting them from any problems that would cause them to be abused or hindered in any way that would interfere with their rights.
This Code of Conduct is intended to provide guidelines to all people working with the SUNCASA Project in fulfilling their duties without harming or causing harm to others, respecting Rwandan values and being exemplary in their work and in their daily lives.
Violation of these rules of conduct is a serious offense that can be followed by punishments in the field of conduct and compliance with the provisions of Rwandan law.
Everyone who works with SUNCASA must read and sign this code of conduct.
Non-permitted conduct

All employees who work with the SUNCASA Project are prohibited from engaging in any activities that lead to the comforting of another person in relation to sex, sexual pleasure and engaging in sexual harassment whenever they are at work or in activities related to work.

Concealing the problem of consoling another person's suspicions related to sex, sexual pleasure and engaging in sexual immorality.

Impersonation of the whistleblower or witness to the abuse that has occurred or is about to occur.

Unwanted touching or touching that leads to sex.

Having sex or related activities with SUNCASA project staff.

Taking advantage of sex or activities related to it so that a person can get a job or be assigned something in the SUNCASA project.

Physical abuse, including rape, sexual assault, or sexual harassment while engaged in SUNCASA activities.

Posting audio and video of people having sex or the owner doing it.

Using language that is full of sexist words, words that demean women and the disabled or any other scandal.

Offering money or anything else, for the purpose of sex, sexual entertainment and any other behavior that degrades a person and engages him in inappropriate behavior.

Giving a person a job or anything that helps him get a job, for the purpose of sex, sexual entertainment and any other behavior that degrades a person and engages him in inappropriate behavior.

It is forbidden to embarrass an employee who abuses other employees in any way.

Drinking alcohol and drugs at work is not allowed.

Misconduct and other work-related issues will be addressed through the following channels:

The Ethics Committee is established by November at the SUNCASA project site. The committee should include men, women and others; has the responsibility to sensitize all employees to comply with these rules, to ensure that they are observed, to receive complaints and to give advice on what to do about the violations found.

The toll-free number is called by the victim of any of the above-mentioned offenses in order to be arrested or anyone else who wants to make a request or help an employee in danger.

A suggestion box is available on each SUNCASA project site. It is managed by three residents and all on-site staff.
Timeline and responsive handling

The ethics committee and any project staff responsible for monitoring ethical issues. Problems or ethical errors in the activities of the SUNCASA project, those who must solve or take immediate measures to resolve the problem received within 24 hours; and make a report that shows the nature of the problem, the time it was received and the measures taken to solve it.

An employee who will appear to lie to others with the intention of harming them will be given moral sanctions in order to leave people’s trust in these ethical laws.

Anyone who violates these laws will be punished, including dismissal from work and being prosecuted by Rwandan courts.
