Training Workshop on Fossil-Fuel Subsidies in Indonesia

To discuss the role of energy subsidies in meeting Indonesia’s energy needs sustainably, the International Institute for Sustainable Development’s Global Subsidies Initiative and 350.org East Asia held two-day in-depth training workshops in Yogyakarta (October 9-10, 2012) and Surabaya (October 12-13, 2012).
The workshops catered to a range of civil society groups, including environmental or social campaigners, community-based groups, NGOs, and journalists. The workshops examined the challenges in meeting Indonesia's growing energy needs sustainably, addressed common misperceptions for and against subsidy reform, and discuss how subsidy reform can contribute towards to wider climate, environment and social objectives.
