Supporting Sustainable Fossil-Fuel Subsidy Reform
The overall project aims are to better understand the potential carbon reduction benefits from fossil fuel subsidy reform (FFSR), recognise reform as part of national carbon mitigation measures and utilise the opportunity of reform to build towards more sustainable and diverse energy systems.
In particular the project aims to develop a systematic and generic approach to both mapping potential carbon emissions reductions from FFSR and understanding links to complementary low-carbon energy policies with a partner country. This project also aims to detail and build support towards recognition of FFSR within the UNFCCC, notably through countries INDC process.
