UNEP Green Economy Country Support
IISD has provided support to the United Nations Environment Programme in the form of Green Economy Scoping Studies for a number of countries, including Azerbaijan, Serbia, Moldova, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Mozambique, Mauritius, Senegal, Belarus and Ukraine.
This work identified and assessed key intervention opportunities and impacts of green investments in support of a green economy. The assessments focused on intervention options and the effects of green economy investments in key sectors for each country, and also involved the creation of customized sectoral simulation models based on existing biophysical and economic data using business-as-usual cases compared with a green economy scenario. Each country analysis provided key recommendations on how to achieve national green economy goals, including avoided costs, jobs and income creation.
